Authentic beads and jewlery by local artists
The Bead Store, located inside the Tuuvi Travel Center, is filled wall to wall with vibrant beads and jewelry in every shape and color. The store offers loose beads as well as beaded jewelry and crafts, including necklaces, beaded pouches, earrings, and key rings.
All of the products are made by Mary Tsinnie and other local artists which offer a diversity of beading styles.
Originally from the Tuba City area, Mary Tsinnie, the owner of the sto
re says, “The store is part of me... it’s what I do. I offer my customers a unique experience and a little bit of myself. They can’t get that anywhere else.”
She and the women in her family make most of the necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and other gifts offered in The BeadStore. Each woman has her own style, which adds to the skillful uniqueness and variety in the shop.
Many Hopi artists prefer using the beading supplies offered at this local store instead of utilizing other suppliers outside of the community.
Often, local artists bring their work into the Bead Store and trade their artistry for other supplies.
Having a variety of artists’ work at The Bead Store offers unique, hand crafted, and high quality Hopi arts to all visitors.
