The Meaning behind the Moenkopi Legacy Inn & Suites Logo

The Moenkopi Legacy Inn & Suites logo is representative of Hopi traditions and is an original work of art created by Hopi artists. The Hopi people are guardians of the sacred land called Tutskwa in northeastern Arizona since ancient times and it is the responsibility of the Elders of the village to protect the land in their jurisdiction for the benefit of the people. This stewardship is premised on Hopi Prophecy, Faith in the Supreme Being would be the key to success.

The Moenkopi Legacy Inn & Suites logo is a testament to the Elder’s Faith and the significance of Hopi Prophecy. Sustaining Faith is manifested through prayer at dawn which is depicted by the image of an Elder praying outside of a ceremonial Kiva. Prayer is consummated through sprinkling of Sacred Corn Meal toward four directions. The corn elements of the logo represent the four directions: Yellow Corn – North; White Corn – East; Red Corn – South; and Blue Corn – West.
Land jurisdiction is essential to the future prosperity and opportunity for the Hopi people. The Moenkopi Legacy Inn and Suites is the LEGACY of the Elders of Moenkopi.
